CDABA Art Academy – staring March 16, 2012
CDABA is very excited to announce its newest program, the Art Academy.  In its attempt to increase exposure to art, make art more assessable to more people, and to help local artists improve their businesses, CDABA is coordinating various educational lectures, round table discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on classes.
The Art Academy will present classes in two formats.
The first is called $5 Friday.  Various instructors will present information and perform demonstrations that introduces participants to a variety of crafts, art techniques, or art mediums that the participant may have thought about trying but is interested in learning more about it first.  CDABA expects to expand its $5 Friday to include discussions about topics that may help artists improve the business side of their art—for example, how to pack art for shipping, how to set up a web page, etc.  The cost for $5 Friday is just that—$5—to cover the registration fee.  Occasionally there may also be a small fee for materials or supplies.
The second is called Art Academy classes.  To encourage people to explore art, some of the Art Academy classes will be hands-on.  Participants will spend class time working on an art piece with the guidance of an instructor who practices the subject medium.  CDABA's goal is to offer these classes at varied times and days to allow as many people as possible to take part.  Class prices will include a $5 registration fee, and may also include an instructor fee and a materials fee.  The instructor fee and material fee will vary by instructor and subject.  Class locations will likewise vary by instructor.
Pre-registration is required.  Class sizes are limited.  Children are welcome to both venues, but age appropriateness varies by class.
CDABA is looking for people who would be willing to share any art or craft technique or business practice that may be of interest to artists or future artists in either of these two formats.
For more information, to discuss teaching, or to register for any of the classes or events call Theresa at 541-271-4608 or email her at tjchickering@yahoo.com.  You can also Like CDABA on Facebook to learn more about CDABA's classes and events.

St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge and Pub Crawl - Pacific Auditorium Fundraiser
The proceeds from this year's St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge and Pub Crawl will be set aside to assist with the installation of a platform at the Pacific Auditorium to accommodate persons in wheelchairs and their companions (the Handicap Seating Renovation).  The funding for the platform is coming from a Dunes Family Health Care donation, a Cycle Oregon Fund grant, and community support.  The renovation needs an additional $2,669.20 to complete the funding.  Participants in the St. Patrick's Day fundraiser are hoping to raise the missing funds.
The 3rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2012, starting at 5 pm.  CDABA will once again be presenting this popular fundraising event.  Team applications can be picked up at the Mindpower Gallery.
The "Pub Crawl" venues will be the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, Half Fast Café, Schooner Inn Café and the Tide's Inn.  Teams will check in at the Moose Lodge to receive their starting location.  All five venues will be visited between the hours of 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm, when the teams gather again to turn-in their answer sheets.
If you are not able to participate and would still like to help make handicap seating available at the auditorium---you can help by sponsoring a team or making a donation by mail---send your tax deductible donation to CDABA at PO Box 5, Reedsport, OR  97467.
