Additional Artists join First Friday / SeaMist Winery
This month's First Friday . . . Art for Everyone will be held Friday, March 2nd between 5 and 7 pm and hosted by Jitterbug N Java, 2211 Winchester Avenue, Reedsport, OR  97467.
Darlene Chapman, host of Friday's event has added additional artists to Friday's lineup of artists.  In addition to the artists described below, Friday will also feature a mandolin builder from Coquille and Dr. French from Coos Bay with handmade guitars.
Darlene is also waiting on confirmation that SeaMist Winery will be on hand with their double-gold winning cranberry wines.
Artist to be featured:  Jerry Schneider of Lakeside, will display his handmade pine needle baskets and drums.  Jessica Lloyd-Rogers, also of Lakeside, will display her handmade purses.  Aeron Blackman, one of this year's CDABA Photography Winners will have photography works on display.
Following the First Friday event will be live music until 9 pm by Worn Out Frets from Coos Bay, Oregon.
CDABA is seeking artists and donations of art to support its various events.  Please contact Kathleen Miller at kkmiller@reedsportlaw.com if you are an artist and are interested in participating in the June Art Walk (6/15) event or if you have a piece of art that you would like to donate to support CDABA's art events.
First Friday events are FREE to attend.  CDABA sponsors the First Friday art events at different locations.  Future Dates:  St. Patrick's Day fundraiser on Saturday, March 17th, April 6th (Reedsport Natural Food store-RCCS students), May 4th (local authors at a location TBA), June 1st (Reedsport Natural Food store-Artist Kathleen Olsson), June 15th – Art Walk in old downtown Reedsport, July 6th-Rusty Frog, Winchester Bay, August 3rd (Reedsport Natural Food store Artist-Annie Rains, fabric art dolls), September XX (Winchester Bay Community Center-Art Auction), October 5th (Reedsport Natural Food store-Artist-TBA, November 2nd (Lower Umpqua Hospital), and December 7th (Anniversary Celebration).

Do you love the arts and want to support our local youth?  Join the arts departments from North Bend High School in an evening extravaganza of art, dance, music and comedy at the Second Annual North Bend High School Arts Show and Auction.  Last year, these groups made over $10,000 to support their programs; this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.  But it can't happen without you.  Saturday, March 17 starting at 6:00 at the Hales Performing Arts Center on the SOCC campus.  Tickets are $10 at the door and can be purchased in advance from any North Bend high school arts student.

Auction items include trips, SOCC tuition, gift baskets, art work, golf and dunes packages, hand-crafted myrtle wood and even custom-made cedar Adirondack chairs.  Many local businesses, artists and private donors have made this auction possible.  Please join us to thank them, enjoy the talents of our students and bid to support their programs.

If you can't make it to the show on March 17, arrangements can be made for proxy bids.  Contact the Art Show director, Ms. Amber Mareski, at amareski@nbend.k12.or.us for a list of items that will be included in the auction.

CDABA presents a full schedule of arts opportunities this Spring – check it out . . . .
March 2 – 5-7 pm - this month's First Friday . . . Art for Everyone will be hosted by Jitterbug N Java, 2211 Winchester Avenue, Reedsport, OR  97467.  Darlene Chapman is excited to invite everyone to come see the art she has on display and to enjoy the showings of the guest artists:  Jerry Schneider—handmade pine need baskets and drums; Jessica Lloyd-Rogers—handmade purses; and Aeron Blackman—photography.  The event will be followed with live music by Worn Out Frets from Coos Bay, Oregon.
March 17th – 5-8 pm – 3rd Annual St. Patrick's Trivia Challenge and Pub Crawl, fundraiser for handicap seating at the auditorium and other community needs.  Starts with teams checking in at 5 pm at the Moose Lodge and continuing to crawl around old down town Reedsport to the other four "Pubs" – Eagles Lodge, Half Fast Café, Schooner Inn Café, and Tide's Inn.  All teams will turn in their trivia challenge answers at the Moose Lodge by 8 pm.  Prizes for best costumes, most donations raised, and of course most correct answers in the trivia challenge.  Team registration forms available at the Mindpower Gallery (541-271-2485) or my email at kkmiller@reedsportlaw.com.
March, April and May – CDABA Art Academy.  CDABA is announcing its new program of art classes.  Some of the art classes will be known as $5 Fridays – and will offer a lecture style art class for just $5.  Other art classes will be of a hands-on variety and will involve a $5 registration fee, a materials fee (when appropriate), and an Instructor fee---depending on the class.  The first $5 Friday will be an introduction to ceramics by Bill Karcher of Coastal Ceramics.  The Play with Clay date is March 16th, 5:30-7:00.  Fee is $5.00.  Class size is limited.  For information about CDABA's Art Academy classes---descriptions, dates, and samples of hands-on projects can be seen at the Umpqua Bank.  Contact Theresa Chickering at tjchickering@yahoo.com for more information about classes, to register for a class, or to inquiry about teaching a class.

On Friday, March 2 at 7:00 pm, Reedsport Foursquare Church will be hosting prophetic evangelist John Mark Pool. He is co-founder of Word to the World Ministries, and has been used by God to minister as a prophetic voice to the nations. Based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he is called to take the Apostolic/Prophetic five-fold ministry message to pastors and church leaders across the USA and around the world. He and his wife, Sandy are both ordained as a prophet and ministers with Jim Goll of Encounters Network Ministries.
John Mark has been ministering on radio, TV, Internet Streaming Broadcast and Web Publishing Sites as well as local churches, conferences and crusade revival outpourings. He has been featured on Sid Roth's It's Supernatural; Prophetic TV with Steve Shultz of Elijah List. The Miracle Channel's The Plumbline Program, with Faisal & Sabina Malick with Covenant of Life Ministries. His message is to prepare the leaders of the nations to come into the unity of the Body of Christ for the power of agreement in prayer. John Mark also prophesies to pastors, church and Kingdom leaders to bring a completion of the release of the real prophetic gifts into the Church.
Evangelist Roger Smets will be speaking Sunday Night, March 4, at 6:30 PM. His prophetic ministry focuses on praying the promises of verbatim Bible verses to many individuals. His speaking is practical in nature and vividly related to everyday life bringing hope, healing, forgiveness and deliverance into the lives of countless individuals. Firmly anchored in the word of God, people can be assured they are getting a "good word" when they come to this meeting.
Rev. Smets has memorized hundreds of scriptures from the Bible and speaks them freely as he prays with people. As a result, thousands of people around the world have been encouraged, refreshed and set free with a "Word from the Lord."
