To: All City Volunteers
From: City of Reedsport
Re: Dial a Ride
Contact: Deanna Schafer
Office line (541) 271-3603
I am writing this appealing to the City of Reedsport
Volunteers for help. The Dial a Ride program is in danger of being cut back
to just a few days a week due to the lack of volunteer drivers. In order for
the program to run seamlessly I need to have at least six volunteers.
Ideally 8-10 would work even better and then the shifts could be shorter.
Due to a rash of illnesses and other things, I am down to just two regular
drivers and two backup drivers.
Typically the program runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm but on most days 3:00pm is
the latest ride. These rides vary anywhere from doctors visits to a ride to
work and cover a 5 (approximately) mile radius. The program is primarily
focused for Senior and disabled patrons but public is welcome if there is
room. The van is a wheelchair accessible van and we do have one regular
wheelchair rider who goes from Aiden at LUH to Winchester Bay twice a week
to visit his wife at the Harmony House.

CDABA Seeks Donation of Art for its Halloween Dinner / Dance
As a part of its Halloween Dinner / Dance Fundraiser, CDABA is seeking
donations of art. All kinds of art are being sought-- whether it is an
original, new piece of art or a piece of art that is looking for a new home.
The art can be any type of art, paintings, drawings, sculptures,
printmaking, photography, jewelry, etc. As the Halloween Gala event is
CDABA's annual fundraising event, plans are being made to include an art
auction (both oral and silent). Halloweenish, Spooky, or Haunting art would
be particularly fun-let your creative juices flow!
