Blacktail Bows—Custom Crafted Takedown & One Piece Bows
First Friday to feature Norm Johnson
Norm Johnson is a dedicated archer and bowhunter.  He lives in Reedsport and is the owner and maker of Blacktail Bows.   Norm began building bows in 1987.  By 1991 Blacktail Bows had grown and his hobby became a full time family business.
Each bow is built by hand, one at a time, of only the finest materials available today.  Norm only uses hardwoods in his bows.  The hardwoods are exotic or domestic, have been hand selected for their density, hardness, and beauty so that in the end they will create a one of a kind bow that is not only a work of art, but also extremely functional.  The finish work is quite extensive, using multiple layers of a clear flexible non-glare satin finish, which is applied, sanded, and reapplied until all wood pores are filled, bringing out the true beauty of the wood.  Norm's bows are pieces of art.
Special Guests during this event will be Bill Karcher and Garth Mast who will feature their handcrafted vessels.  CDABA and the Reedsport Natural Foods store  invite you to join the fun and meet the artists.
This is a FREE EVENT.  CDABA sponsors the First Friday art events at a different location each month.  Future dates will be September 2nd (2nd Annual Art Auction-Winchester Bay Community Center), October 7th (Reedsport Natural Foods), November 4th (Lower Umpqua Hospital), and December 2nd (Reedsport Natural Foods and Anniversary Celebration at Coastal Ceramics/Ocean Breeze).
SAVE the date:  Gala Event – Halloween Weekend, October 28-29-30, 2011.  CDABA's annual fundraiser event.  Start creating your costumes and gathering your teams!  If you are interested in volunteering call Tamara Szalewski at 541-271-2485.
