The Memorial Day Celebration and Parade was a wonderful tribute to our Veterans and Community. The Reedsport//Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce thanks the entire community for making the Memorial Day Celebration the best in the State. It would be impossible to put on this tribute, honoring our veterans, without the support from the community. You truly make the difference in what we can and cannot do.
A special recognition and thank you is expressed to Dave Courtney and Aerial Imaging Resources for supplying and flying the airplane that transported the Flag jumper who displayed the beautiful unique vision of the American Flag drifting down upon Reedsport.
Bedrocks, The Eagles, The Moose Lodge, The Military Order of The Purple Heart, Atzlan, The Lions Club, The Club, Leona’s, Lower Umpqua Hospital, and The Sportsmen’s Cannery, all deserve a big thank you for feeding the Marine Band during their stay in town.
The Rotary Club organized the coordination of the Memorial Day Parade through downtown Reedsport with a spectacular array of parade entries. Lewis Transportation transported the Marine Band from Eugene and to all activities around Reedsport and Winchester Bay and back to Eugene showing tremendous community support and patriotism. The City of Reedsport, Police, Fire and Public Work Departments, ODOT, Salmon Harbor, The Reedsport Charter School, Lorna Murphy and the students of Highland Elementary School, Discovery Point, United Presbyterian Church, Coast Guard Station Umpqua River, The Reedsport Bowling Alley, Signs Unlimited, Debbie McKinney, Kathy Schultz, Joe Savey, Ocean Breeze Florist, Pastor Ives, U-Haul Truck Rental, Peggy Edson and the Winchester Bay Community Building all played vita roles in contributing to the Memorial Day Celebration.
Special thanks to Kent Abendroth for his meaningful and heartfelt delivery of the Memorial Service and Mayor Tymchuk for his introduction at the Marine Band Concert and his tribute to the LST Sailors at the Memorial Service. A very special thank you to Mark Bedard for his timeless energy and strong commitment and passion to commemorate this most Honorable of Holidays. A final thank you to the community for it’s hospitality and to all that donated to Adopt-A-Marine to make this celebration possible to Honor our Veterans Past, Present, and Future.
