Get revved up for the Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Sculpting Championships, winner of the Ovation Award for Best Performing Art or Fine Arts Festival in Oregon, held in Reedsport, "The Chainsaw Carving Capital of Oregon" over Father's Day Weekend, June 16th - 19th'.  Watch chainsaw carvers from around the world take "Art To The Extreme" as they create amazing sculptures before your eyes!
Enjoy the vendor fair, great food, boat show and daily chainsaw carving auctions at 5:30pm.  On Saturday a Corvette Show will be held in the Fullhart Insurance Parking Lot starting at 10am.
The final Auction will be at 12:30 on Sunday and the winners of The Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Sculpting Championships will be announced after the auction.  For additional information go to www.odcsc.com

Pastor Wil Gehrke is retiring from the pastoral ministry at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Reedsport,  and Christ Lutheran Church, Coos Bay.  His last Sunday is June 26, 2011.  There will be an open house at Beautiful Savior, 2160 Elm Avenue, Reedsport, on Sunday June 26, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Please join us as we bid farewell and God's rich blessing to Pastor and Karen!

          Lower Umpqua Hospital is hosting a series of free public presentations over various health-related topics entitled "Care to talk about."
          The next to be offered is Care to talk about.Your Emergency Medical Services on Tuesday, June 28, at 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the LUH conference room with the Kevin Van Syoc, Director of Lower Umpqua Hospital's Emergency Medical Services. The conference room is located on the lower level near the cafeteria. Parking is available in the lower lot. Enter through the door marked "Receiving." Healthy refreshments are provided.
          This is a wonderful chance to hear about what emergency services are available and get any questions answered.
          Upcoming topics include electronic medical records & what that means, hospital finance, and more.

Art Walk – June 17th – Old Town Reedsport
Guitarist Joins Art Walk
Michael William Squglio, local guitarist is scheduled to play during CDABA's 2nd Annual Art Walk.  Michael, who has been seen at the Rotary Club of Reedsport's local Talent Show (scheduled this year for Nov. 12th), will be playing his guitar at the Orca Gallery between 5-7 pm. 
CDABA's second annual Art Walk will be held on Friday, June 17th from 5 pm to 7 pm in old town Reedsport along Highway 38.  All of the open venues have been working hard at setting up for a fantastic art experience.  CDABA is pleased to announce there will be several locations open during Art Walk, as follows: 
The Mindpower Gallery (417 Fir Ave/Hwy 38) will be hosting several guest artists(will be setup inside and outside the gallery) and attendees will also be able to view its current art exhibit "Time" a Traveling Oregon Prison Art Show featuring the works by 20 artistic inmates from 6 of the 13 Oregon state penitentiary and correctional institutions.
The Orca Gallery (532 Fir Ave/Hwy 38) will also be hosting several guest artists, including members of the local Dunes Art Club.
Other Highway 38 locations include the Dan's Art (481 Fir Ave.) and a trio of ladies--Theresa Chickering & Linda Mason (quilt & fabric art) and Rose Burch (paintings) will be setting up a temporary location at 456 Fir Avenue.
Artists who will be located at the Sidewalk Plaza of the Central Lincoln PUD offices include:  Dave Courtney and Miranda Ellis.
The Myrtlewood Gallery, located at 1125 Highway 101, will also be open during the Art Walk between 5 pm and 7 pm.  
Remember also that Judy Miller will be conducting her plant sale as a benefit for the local AARP Food Pantry.  You will find her across the street from the Orca Gallery.
If you are an artist who is interested in participating in the Art Walk as an outside vendor---please contact Kathleen Miller (271-2101) or Tara Szalewski (271-2485) to sign up for one of the limited spaces available.  Plans are underway to make room for artists all along the Art Walk route.  Artists will be responsible for all their own needs, such as table and chairs, and will work directly with the public with regards to their art as this is an informal event and no fees or commissions will be imposed.
