JOIN THE PARADE - BE A MEMORIAL DAY PARADE ENTRY - MONDAY, MAY 30th Reedsport, Oregon
The Memorial Day Parade in Reedsport is open for entries so sign-up and be part of the Memorial Day Parade & Celebration Honoring Veterans, "Past, Present and Future" Monday, May 30th at noon. Leading the parade will be the United States Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Marching Band. Businesses, Civic Organizations, and Individuals are invited and encouraged to participate in the parade. Entry forms are available at the Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce Office or online at http://www.reedsportcc.org/pages/events/memorial_day.php The parade originates at Rainbow Plaza and continues through Downtown Reedsport to Railroad Ave and returns to Rainbow Plaza. A Memorial Service and BBQ will follow the parade with skydivers and fly-bys.
Help bring the Marines and Paratroopers to Reedsport, ADOPT-A-MARINE.
This is a Memorial Day Celebration donation program that enables you to Adopt-A-Marine to help support the patriotic recognition of this honorable holiday. The donations help offset the tremendous cost of transportation and lodging for the 29 Palms Marine Corps Band, and The Paratroopers. Songs from Broadway musicals and originals from Florence composer, Charles Perkins will highlight the Spring Pops concert of the Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra (OCCO). The Reedsport concert which ends the fourth year of bringing live music to this community will be a matinee on Sunday, May 1 at 2 P.M. in the Pacific Auditorium at Reedsport Community Charter School.
The special two-for-one "early-bird" ticket price will again be offered. The tickets are $10 and admit two persons. They are currently on sale at the Reedsport branch of Umpqua Bank. On the afternoon of the concert tickets will be on sale at the door for the regular price of $10 per person.
The program opens with "Everything's coming up roses", from "Gypsy," followed by two Perkins arrangements of familiar television themes. Selections from "fiddler on the roof" and "Finnian's rainbow" offer extended remembrances of these famous musicals. The concert ends with three originals by Perkins. Conductors for this concert are Robin DeVour, John Monks and Rafael Videira. Concertmaster of OCCO is Barbara Wilcox.
