Memorial Day Celebration in Reedsport
ADOPT-A-MARINE
ADOPT-A-MARINE is a Memorial Day Celebration donation program that enables you to Adopt-A-Marine to help support the patriotic recognition of this honorable holiday. The cost of transporting The 29 Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band to Reedsport is escalating and help is needed to continue this Memorial Day tradition. Donations help offset the costs of the Memorial Day Celebration including the cost of transportation and lodging for the Marine Corps Band and the Parachute Team.
The Marines Are Coming To Reedsport/Winchester Bay
The 29 Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band visits Reedsport over Memorial Day Weekend and is the focal point of The Memorial Day Celebration and Parade.
Sunday, prior to Memorial Day, the public is invited to meet The Marine Corps Band and the Parachute Team at a community BBQ at the Presbyterian Church. The BBQ is followed by a free concert at 7:00pm in the Pacific Auditorium at Reedsport Charter School featuring the Marine Corps Band. Free tickets are required and are available at Umpqua Bank, Bank of America and the Chamber office.
Monday, Memorial Day, the Marine Corps Band sends a bugler to the VFW Cemetery Service, and holds mini-workshops with visiting school bands prior to the parade. Additionally, The Marine Corps Band headlines the Memorial Day Parade and performs throughout the Memorial Day Service.
Tuesday, The Marine Corps Band holds a music workshop for the entire student body of Highland Elementary School. They also perform two concerts in Winchester Bay. During the day they stop and show their respect to our local Coast Guard, Station Umpqua River.
Why does the Marine Corps Band continually come back to Reedsport, Oregon for the Memorial Day Celebration? They continually return for our celebration due to our community's hospitality, support, and appreciation. They enjoy each performance and especially the atmosphere and qualities of Pacific Auditorium.
Help support the Celebration by Adopting-A-Marine! Your donation is greatly appreciated.

"All architecture is great architecture after sunset; perhaps architecture is really a nocturnal art, like the art of fireworks." -- G. K. Chesterton
"A building is akin to dogma; it is insolent, like dogma. Whether or no it is permanent, it claims permanence, like a dogma. People ask why we have no typical architecture of the modern world, like impressionism in painting. Surely it is obviously because we have not enough dogmas; we cannot bear to see anything in the sky that is solid and enduring, anything in the sky that does not change like the clouds of the sky." --G. K. Chesterton
