What:  Coastal Christmas Basket Winners
Where:  Reedsport Holiday Bazaar
  
AND THE WINNERS ARE.........................
 
The winners of the two "Coastal Christmas" baskets raffled by PEO Chapter BZ of Reedsport were announced at the annual Holiday Bazaar.  Delighted recipients were Karen Bedard and Franci Snyder of Reedsport.
 
All proceeds from the annual "Coastal Christmas" basket and fall carnation sales go directly to local scholarships, Oregon state scholarships and international scholarships awarded by PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization).
 
A heartfelt "thank you" to the many people in the Reedsport community who support the fundraising efforts of PEO Chapter BZ.

What: Coast Toasties Toastmasters Induction of Officers
Who: Coast Toasties, Reedsport's Toastmasters Club
 
At the club's first annual Christmas Dinner event, Toastmasters International officially installed officers for the Coast Toasties Club in Reedsport. Celebrated at a dinner paid for by an anonymous benefactor on Tuesday evening, each officer was given an official pin and took an oath of office.
 
As many as 20 persons, witnessed Area Governor James Perry pinned officers Steve Reese as Sergeant of Arms, Jamie Swafford as Treasurer, Sandra Reese as Secretary, Theresa Hart as Vice President of Public Relations, Tom Campbell as Vice President of Membership, Amy Olson as Vice President of Education and Linda Murray-Stange as President for the fiscal year 2009/2010. Each club member was also recognized and pledged to "stand by this club, live with it, and work with it throughout the coming year."
 
Additionally, both Ken Deacon as past president and Ike Launstein as honorary past president were recognized for their initial work to establish the club in Reedsport. According to Perry,  the two "worked tirelessly and organized the effort to make our club a reality."
 
After the dinner that was prepared by Ron at the Waterfront Restaurant and Lounge, each member told of his most memorable Christmas.
 
The Coast Toasties have changed their regular meeting nights to Thursday. Taking a break for the holidays, their next regular meeting will be on Thursday, January 7, at 6:30pm at the Reedsport School District office.
 
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking and working with others in a friendly, fun and supportive environment. The program is self-paced and allows members to build confidence with each speaking assignment. Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program.

Holiday Lighting Contest
Reedsport-Winchester Bay-Gardiner
 
The Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual Holiday Lighting Contest this holiday season.  Light up the Central Oregon Coast this holiday season and you could be one of our residential or business contest winners!  We will recognize the top three residential homes in the Gardiner, Reedsport, and Winchester Bay area this year as well as the top business that is decorated for the holidays.  Judging will take place Sunday, December 20th.  Winners will be announced the following week.  The first place prize in both the residential and business category will receive $100.00 each.  Second place in the residential class will receive $50.00 and third place will receive $25.00.  Good luck to all and thanks for lighting-up the Coast!!
