CDABA beings Thursday Art Classes
As a part of its recent promotions of the arts, CDABA, together with Tom Taraba, will be offering free art classes each Thursday evening, starting January 7th. The art classes will be held from 5-7 pm and will be held at the Reedsport Natural Food Store, located at 1891 Winchester Avenue (Highway 101).
Tom Taraba, who himself is an artist, will be leading the classes and plans to design the classes around the interest and skill levels of the students. Everyone is encourage to attend---from those who are just beginning to explore the artist in themselves, to those who have developed their art skills and are just looking for a place to work on their pieces in the company of fellow artists. Tom said that he sees these art classes as "a time when artist can benefit from a little instruction or just get motivation from others."
The art classes will be held each Thursday evening at the Reedsport Natural Food Store. Anyone interested in learning more information should stop by and see Tom and get some guidance on what tools or inspiration to bring along to class or call Tom at 319-0089.

Amateur Photography Contested Featured at First Friday Event
The second of CDABA's First Friday . . . Art is for Everyone events will be held at the Mindpower Gallery, 417 Fir Avenue (Hwy 38), Reedsport, OR from 5-7 pm on Friday, January 8, 2010 (note this is the second Friday due to the holiday)
An amateur photography contest will be the focal point of the event. The contest is a benefit for the Library Renovation project and anyone interested in submitting an 8x10, matted photo should pick up an entry form and learn more details from the Library or Mindpower Gallery. The date to submit entries is January 5, 2010. For more information about the contest contact Mindpower Gallery at 271-2485.
Anindor Winery of Elkton, Oregon will also be the featured wine and will be offering free wine tasting and have its wine available for sale by the glass and/or bottle.
First Friday . . . Art for Everyone will be an event sponsored by Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA) and hosted by a different location each month. Future dates will be: February 5th at Kathi's Vintage Antiques, March 5th at Wings Studio 1, April 2nd at the Tsunami Gallery, and May 7th at the Reedsport Natural Food Store.
