Renew Reedsport Together is Looking for Volunteers

The Renew Reedsport Together project is looking for volunteers and teams of volunteers.  Think about the fun you will have when you get your co-workers, family, or friends (or all three) together for an uplifting morning of celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2009.  Volunteers are being sought for the purpose of joining together for the Opening Ceremonies to be held at City Hall starting at 9 a.m. and then to be dispatched with flats of marigolds for planting.  Each volunteer or team of volunteers will be given a set number of marigolds and a designated location to plant them.

There will also be the opportunity to help the Great Garden (located next to Highland Elementary) celebrate Oregon's 150th Birthday with a community beautification project of its own.  Also on May 16th the Great Garden will be conducting a garden clean-up event in order to get it ready for the season.  If, when you are finished planting your marigolds, you wish to continue putting forth community service you can join others at the Great Garden.

Financial support is still being accepted.  Tax deductible donations are being accepted to help support this non-profit project, as well as other community improvement projects now underway—such as the Library Renovation Project, Highway 38 beautification projects, Highway 101 beautification projects, and others.

The partners for this local Oregon Sesquicentennial event are City of Reedsport, the Reedsport / Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club of Reedsport, the Rotary Club of Reedsport, CDABA, and Ocean Breeze Flowers & Gifts.  Contact Kathleen Miller at 271-2101 about becoming a partner.

Donation and Volunteer registration forms are available from City Hall and the Chamber office.  Get your volunteer teams together and register today.  You may contact Deanna Schaefer, City of Reedsport (271-3603) or Robin Dollar, Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce (271-3495) for more information.
