WHO:  Christmas in July "Neighbors Helping Neighbors"
WHY: If you've ever felt powerless in a world, where it seems that greed has overtaken our national leaders to the point that they have no concern for common folk and actual distain for those that are helpless; and you are wondering what one individual person can do about it… Imagine individuals like you working together, starting with our community to bring compassion, hope and simple neighborliness back into our world. Neighbors helping neighbors, is exactly what Christmas in July is about! Christmas in July's mission is to preserve and revitalize houses in our community, assuring that low income homeowners from elderly and disabled to needy families with children, live in warmth and safety. And this November you can have fun and enjoy yourself at the same time that you extend your help to the elderly, the handicapped and the needy in our community!
DETAILS: Tickets are available at the door: Adults are $8 and Children under 12 are $4. Be prepared to have a ton of fun and bring along your dollars and checkbook for the Raffles, Chinese Auction and the Live Auction at 6 PM.
Here is a sampling of some of the amazing goodies collected in preparation for the auctions and raffles:

Compassionate merchants in our community often contribute gift cards or other special things for the raffles and auctions and we appreciate the fact that their contributions are the backbone of support for this event. For example: A special new item this year will be the fully decorated Christmas tree from Kitty's Kitchen is Christmas Forever. The tree will be on display at Kitty's, 110 Bayfront Loop until the Spaghetti Feed, and you can purchase raffle tickets at Kitty's for $10 each or 3 for $25. The raffle for this remarkable tree will be at 6:30 PM during the Spaghetti Feed.

CDABA's fall fundraising event is just around the corner.  A new event has been added---a "Wall of Wine."  This may be just the right way for you to assist CDABA with its efforts to promote arts in our community and to help keep its events going---just donate a bottle of wine (minimum retail value of $15).  The Wall of Wine is guaranteed to have at least one bottle of wine worth $100 and many others with values between $15 and $100.  Can you donate just one bottle of wine?  If so, you can drop it by the Mindpower Gallery or Steve Miller's office any time before Thursday, October 25th.
Other donations for the silent auction are also very much appreciated.  Donations of art, crafts, gift certificates, or other items of interest would be very appreciated.  Contact Tara at the Mindpower Gallery (541-271-2485) for information on sponsorships and donations.
Also---the deadline to purchase your event tickets (social, games, dinner, live music) at $40 per person is Monday, October 21st.  Thereafter the tickets are $50 per person.  Attending just the live music presented by Soulpie?  Tickets are just $10 per person and are available at the door (starting at 9 pm).  Seating is limited - contact Tamara at the Mindpower Gallery (541-271-2485) for ticket information.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION
I work in the Exhibits department at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History on the U of O campus in Eugene. We are currently developing a bead and beadwork exhibit that will go up in May 2014. We will be showing examples of beadwork from our Collections. Pieces range from necklaces from all of the world, to various examples of Native American Plains, Metis/Dene, and Oregon Tribal work. We are interested in showing contemporary beadwork along with what we are showing from our Collections. I was wondering if you knew of any bead artists who may want to participate. If you don't know of any, but you could pass along this information to other people, that would be greatly appreciated.
The work would have to be loaned for a little over a year, starting in late March/ early April 2014 and going until late May/early June 2015.  A short bio and written component as to why beads/beadwork are an important material choice/technique in the work would be required.  Pieces will be protected under plexiglass cases and a contract would be crafted by the museum and the U of O for responsibility of the work.  Although the museum cannot offer you money for the piece on display, there may be an opportunity to sell other pieces in our store.
If artists are interested in participating, I would need to know by November 6th at the very latest what piece(s) they are submitting for consideration. I would need a title, image of the work(s), and approximate cost of shipping of the piece(s) with insurance.
