The members of the Rotary Club of Reedsport wish to thank everyone for attending its community talent show – Coastal Douglas Has Talent! this past Saturday, February 2, 2013.  The audience, the show sponsors, and each of the talent acts are vital to the success of the event.  By supporting the event, everyone is contributing to other programs within our community as the funds raised are donated by the Rotary Club to various community programs, including local scholarships.
This year's list of participants and line-up of talent was particularly well received.  The addition of guest appearances from Rotarians and others sprinkled throughout the show added an extra bonus for the audience.  A big thank you goes out to Rotarian Kingsley Kelley, the Master of Ceremonies, the Reedsport Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, and to all the talent acts.  special thanks go to:

WHAT: Orchestra returns for Winter program

The Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra (OCCO) returns to Reedsport next month. The Pacific Auditorium at the Reedsport Community Charter Schools will continue to be the site for OCCO'S Reedsport concerts. The Winter program will be on Sunday, March 3 at 2 P.M.
Tickets are on sale at the Reedsport branch of Umpqua Bank, located on Highway 101 at the South end of town. Admission is $10 per person for each concert. Tickets will also be available beginning at 1 P.M. at the door on the afternoon of the concert.
The Winter concert will feature a variety of music, including a Schubert Overture, a musical tribute to songwriter, Jerome Kern arranged by OCCO Conductor, John Monks and another original from veteran composer and arranger, Charlie Perkins. Orchestra founder, Robin DeVour will also conduct.

Fountaineers sought for 2013.
Keeping the lights on and the water flowing at Reedsport's Confluence Fountain is made possible by the generous donations from members of the community.  Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA), the local nonprofit who oversees the fountain, is conducting its annual drive to raise the funds needed to maintain the fountain.  Although donations in any amount are encouraged, those community members who donate $100 or more become known as "Fountaineers." 
CDABA is a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  If you would like to make a donation, make your check payable to CDABA and mail it to PO Box 5, Reedsport, OR  97467.  CDABA's federal identification number is 93-1282012.

First Friday to feature Photograph, Duane Beach
First Friday . . . Art for Everyone will feature Photographer Duane A. Beach on Friday, March 1, 2013 between 5 and 7 pm.  Duane has always had an interest in photography, but as a master electrician did not have the time to do more than treat is as a hobby.  After retiring in 2008, his hobby developed into something more.  Duane says he will even slush through the mud and muck to get a good shot.  Most of Duane's photos are of the north and central Oregon coast, but a few come from central Oregon and Arizona.
The event will be hosted by Greg Viert and Patsy Sichley, the new owners of the Reedsport Natural Foods store.  The store is located at 1891 Winchester Avenue (Hwy 101), Reedsport, OR  97467.
CDABA has a busy schedule this year – future events include:
March 17th – 3 pm – 4th Annual St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge – five old downtown Reedsport locations.  $20 per team – up to four members, plus $5 per person beyond four.  Prizes to be awarded as follows:  one to the best dressed team (go green!), one to the team who raises the most donations for the community project to be supported, and one to the team with the most correct answers.  Contact Joe Coyne @ 271-2103, Mindpower Gallery @ 271-2485 or Kathleen Miller at kkmiller@reedsportlaw.com for team registration information.

May 3rd – 5-7 pm – First Friday to feature the students of the Reedsport Community Charter School.

CDABA announces monthly day and time for meetings.
Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA), announces the monthly day and time for its meetings.  The third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. will be the day and time for the monthly meetings of CDABA.  The meetings will be held at the Mindpower Gallery, 417 Fir Aenue (Hwy 38), Reedsport, OR 97467.
At is February 19th meeting, CDABA will be putting the finishing touches on its plans for this year's March 17th – St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge, receiving a report on the status of the Lighting Project at the Pacific Auditorium, reviewing upcoming grant deadlines, and firming up its schedule of First Friday events for 2013.
Anyone interest in any of the activities and events of CDABA is invited to attend and participate in the discussions.  Artists and crafters who are particularly interested in developing way to encourage the arts in Reedsport are invited to share their ideas.
