Winchester Bay is the place to be August 22rd and 23rd.  Hot cars – Kool nights!  Delight in Kool Coastal Nights, the 22nd Annual Winchester Bay Car Show.  Cruise in on Friday and stay till Sunday for the classic car extravaganza.  Back by popular demand – The Burn-Out contest!  Friday night in the Salmon Harbor parking lot 6:30p – 8pm.  You can't miss it!  Our popular classic car show is open to all pre-70s cars. Each year the classic cars line Beach Boulevard for the Show-n-Shine, where the flashy, restored, and souped-up vie for trophies.  Come enjoy the show and enter the raffle to win!  On Saturday join the fun on the ladies poker walk and visit the shops and restaurants in Winchester Bay and Reedsport.  More than 300 classics enter each year, and the proud owners are always happy to talk to admirers. Many owners bring lawn chairs to sit next to their show stoppers so they can describe the restoration project to anyone interested.     The Gardiner-Reedsport Lions Club's Annual Duck Race is scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd during the Kool Coastal Nights in Winchester Bay. The always exciting, and often comical race is an important charitable event for Reedsport. The annual event contributes to the Lions Club's support of vision and hearing care for local citizens.
    Annually the Gardiner-Reedsport Lions pay for examinations and glasses for up to sixty local residents and hearing assistance to a few, all on a needs basis. In addition the Gardiner-Reedsport Lions Club, with the help of the Highland Parent Association, will be testing the vision of all Reedsport Elementary School children on September 4th.
    Lions and friend of Lions will be offering Duck Tickets for sale at $5 each. The Race will be held at Dock F near Bedrocks Pizzeria. The time will be between noon and 1:00 PM depending on the wind and tide. The winning Duck will win $100, the runner-up wins $50 and the third place Duck takes home $25 for its lucky owner.

Registration for NEW students will begin August 11, 2014. Registration for returning students will be August 27th, 2014 at the following times:
Grade 12         8-9 am
Grade 11         9-10 am
Grade 10         10-11 am
Grade 9           1-2 pm
Grade 8           2-3 pm
Grade 7           5-6 pm
Please be prepared to pay your $12.00 student body fee and an option to order a 2014-2015 yearbook for a fee of $40.00. School pictures will also be taken that day. Registration packets will be sent out to returning students beginning the week of August 18, 2014. Any questions please call the school office at 541-271-2141.

Reedsport Braves Alumni Reunion Picnic

12:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Everyone is invited. It's a potluck for bring a dish to share or something for the BBQ grill. We will be having an alumni softball game so don't forget your mitt. The whole family is welcome. Come and see old friends and meet some new ones too!

Saturday – August 16   11am to 2pm at ECEC Ft Umpqua
"A Glimpse of Life at Fort Umpqua"
a live, costumed presentation about how folks lived in the days that Ft Umpqua was a fur trading settlement, held at a replica of the Hudson's Bay Company fort originally built in the Elkton area in 1836.  The fort continued to be used for fur trading and agricultural development until 1851. Characters in dress appropriate to the period will appear and tell about their lives at Fort Umpqua. A reenactor will demonstrate skills a trapper would need, including musket firing, beaver trapping, and fire starting. Visitors of all ages asking questions of the characters will receive a token award.

" ELKSTOCK"  music festival     
2 days of jam sessions, fun and more bands than you can imagine in Elkton; camping by the river and music on the riverside stage from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening.  Hosted by the Elkton Station and the Station Band to benefit music programs in the Elkton schools; check out the Facebook page for Elkstock2014
