The Lower Umpqua Gem and Lapidary Society is hosting its Annual Gem and Mineral Show, "Treasures From the Earth", July 20-22, at Reedsport, Oregon. There will be jewelry, gem and mineral dealers, demonstrators, displays of gems and minerals, door prizes, silent auctions, and a raffle. Demonstrations include making cabochons, wire wrapped jewelry, and glass bead making. Kid's activities includes "turn me over rocks" and a ball toss. Choose your thunderegg and have it cut.
Admission is free, with donations gladly accepted. The show will be held Friday 10 am-5 pm, Saturday 10am-5 pm, and Sunday 10am-4 pm, at the Reedsport Community Center, 451 Winchester Avenue. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Old Timer's Club members will meet for breakfast on Sunday at 7:30 at the Waterfront.

The gardener (Judy) who raises money for the AARP Food Pantry by selling bouquets and plants at Umpqua Bank needs tomato cages or grow-through supports for gladiola blossoms and other tall blooming plants.  If you have any you are willing to donate, please drop clean ones off at Umpqua Bank.  Or call Judy about delivering cages in any condition to her.

What:   Scottsburg Community Bake Sale and Car Wash
Where:  Bob's Market, Highway 38, Scottsburg
When:   Saturday, June 23rd, 9am to 1pm
Who:     Scottsburg Community Service Association and Fire Department



The Scottsburg Community Service Association will be holding a bake sale and the Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department will be there to wash cars. We are asking for donations of baked goods and inviting all to come join in on the fun and get their car washed. Proceeds go to community service and the fire department.

 Valerie Hunter, Director at Aidan Senior Living in Reedsport, will present the program, Care to Talk About…Aging in our Community at Lower Umpqua Hospital conference room on Tuesday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. She will share information about the services available in our community to help people stay at home longer.
 This presentation is the latest in the Care to Talk About series offered as a public service to our community. It is free and open to the public. Light refreshments served.
 Upcoming Care to Talk About's are August 28, with Delaine Humphreys presenting information about Your Family Resource Center, and October 30 with Dr. Jason Bell presenting Your Joint Replacement Options.
