What: Bedrock's 3rd Annual Civil War Canned Food Challenge
Where: Bedrocks Reedsport & Winchester Bay
When: Now through November 26th
Bedrocks Reedsport & Winchester Bay have "kicked off" their third annual "Civil War Canned Food Challenge" to benefit local food pantries that are currently struggling for donations. Between now and November 26th, donations of canned or non-perishable foods can be made at either location and placed in the boxes of your favorite football teams; Beavers or Ducks. For two years in a row, the Duck fan donors have brought in more canned food. In return for every item donated, Bedrocks will give donors a ticket that will go into a drawing for prizes such as local Gift Certificates, College logo'd t- shirts, and hats. Last year's donations were split between the AARP food Bank and Project Blessing.

What: Gardiner-Reedsport Lions Club, Christmas Tree, Wreaths &
See's Candy Sales
Once again, the Gardiner-Reedsport Lions Club will be selling Christmas Trees, wreaths and See's Candy for the holidays to raise funds for various community projects. The Lions sales trailer will be in the Price & Pride parking lot in downtown Reedsport and will be open from 12 pm to 6 pm seven days a week starting Saturday, November 26. One hundred percent of the profits from the Christmas tree and candy sales are used for the many Club's projects that assist the community.
The primary mission of the Lions Club International is the preservation of sight. The Gardiner-Reedsport Lions Club provides eye examinations and glasses for thirty local residents yearly. The Lions Club also pays for the screening of all our local elementary students for sight and hearing problems. We collect approximately 500 used eyeglasses each year for cleaning, polishing, calibration and redistribution that give the gift of sight to third world people that have no glasses. The Lions also support many other local charities.
The public is welcome to bring used eyeglasses, cell phones and used hearing aids to the Lions Sales Trailer for recycling during our sales period. They also may be brought to our collection boxes at The Lower Umpqua Hospital, the Umpqua Bank, and the Lower Umpqua Senior Center.
See's Candy makes a great gift to the many people who provided the services that make our life better. Consider a box of chocolates for your barber, hairdresser, postman, paper carrier, house keeper, yard person, etc. It lets them know they are appreciated. We sell See's Candy at a slight discount from the in-store price.
