What: Bench & TrashCan Project
When: Ongoing
Where: Communities of Reedsport, Gardiner, Winchester Bay & Lakeside
As part of the training offered by the Ford Institute Leadership Program,
the Cohort IV group decided on a bench and trashcan project to demonstrate
some of the leadership skills gained. As a really cool point of interest,
a Geocach is being placed near the benches to encourage local as well as
tourists to visit the bench sites in each of the four communities. For
more information about geocaching go online to www.geocaching.com. The
benches will be placed in Old Town Reedsport between the Post Office and
Kathi's Vintage Antiques; by the old boat ramp in Gardiner; in front of
the community center in Winchester Bay; and, on 8th Street in front of
McKay's in Lakeside.

The Ford Institute Leadership Program offers training to rural Oregon
people who otherwise might not get these valuable skills and will give a
$5,000 grant to the Cohort IV group as soon as they raise $5,000 of their
own. Of that amount, $2,500 must be in cash and the remainder as In-Kind
donations.

own. Of that amount, $2,500 must be in cash and the remainder as In-Kind
donations.
To raise the $2,500 cash, the Cohort IV group decided to have two raffles
of which one is still ongoing. A beautiful basket has been created with a
very large ceramic rooster, gifts certificates, food and more that has
been donated by individuals and businesses and is valued at over $300.
Raffle tickets are being sold for $1 each and can be purchased at Kathi's
Vintage Antiques in Old Town Reedsport. The basket has been known to
travel so look for it at different events or gatherings in Reedsport and
any of the other three communities and purchase those tickets! A winner
will be chosen the end of August.

recognition to your family or loved one! The bricks will be placed in the
cement pads on which the benches will set. Along with the bricks, there
