What:   Ice Cream Bingo
When:  Saturday, May 8, 2010, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Highland Elementary School
Who:    Great Afternoons/RCLC
 
            Tickets are $3.50 for children under 12 and $5 for those 12 and older, $15 for a family of 4. Tickets include an ice cream sundae and one bingo card, but additional cards are available at the cost of $2 for adult cards and $1 for children's cards. The evening is always a lot of fun with thousands of dollars in prizes donated by local businesses and individuals given away to bingo winners during the evening. Snack items are available for purchase at the event. Tickets are available at Great Afternoons or the Family Resource Center or at the door. For more information, call 271-3926.

What: Beautification of the Great Garden
When: Monday, April 26th, noon to 3pm
Where: The Great Garden, located between Highland Elementary School and the softball fields

Come join us for an afternoon of fun in the Great Garden! We will be beautifying the garden through the removal of invasive weeds and the planting of flowers. High School Students are encouraged to attend as part of Pride Day. Community members of all ages are invited.

Suggested Headline: Pops Concert ends orchestra's ninth season

Music of Florence composers, Charles Perkins and Robin DeVour, will be premiered in the Spring Pops concert of the Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra (OCCO). Singer Denise Dee and trumpeter Ron Green will also be featured in the program.

The Reedsport concert will be a matinee on Sunday, May 16 at 2 P.M. in the Pacific Auditorium. The special two-for-one "early-bird" ticket price will again be offered. A General Admission ticket ($10.00) will admit two persons. Tickets are currently available at the Reedsport branch of Umpqua Bank. The ticket price on the day of the event will be $10.00 per person.

The concert will begin with a variety of light music, selections including two originals by Perkins and a suite of Latin-American dances by DeVour. Three of Perkins' arrangements are also on tap in the second half of the program. Two of them are arranged as vocals for Dee with Green improvising on trumpet. Conductors for this concert are DeVour, Steve Conaton, John Monks and John Dodge. Concertmaster of OCCO is Barbara Wilcox.

 Daniel Burgess to be featured artist at Third Friday – Artist Showcase
 
Daniel Burgess to be featured artist at Third Friday – Artist Showcase.  Daniel is a sculptor who works in metal and driftwood.  Daniel describes his art as an abstract collaboration with nature.  He uses animals and his surroundings as references.  Daniel's metal sculptures are unique and distinctive.  He plans to display a Pegasus Horse, a Wooden Rhino, and a Humpback Whale.
 
 CDABA is also seeking additional artist to participate in Third Friday – Artists Showcase events.  If you are an artist who is interested in displaying your art during an Artist Showcase, please email Kathleen Miller at kkmiller@reedsportlaw.com.
 
Future events include:  First Friday. . .Art for Everyone future dates are May 7th – featuring the art of the students at the Reedsport Community Charter School at the Reedsport Natural Food Store (Hwy 101 in Reedsport), June 4th (Myrtlewood Gallery), July 2nd (Kathi's Antiques), August 6th (Reedsport Coffeehouse), September 3rd (Mindpower Gallery), October 1st, November 5th, and December 3rd.  Artist Showcase future dates are May 21st (Rose Burch), June 18th (Bill Karcher), July 16th (Pat Turner), August 20th (Tim Fitzgerald), September 17th, October 15th, November 19th, and December 17th all at the Reedsport Natural Food Store (Hwy 101) in Reedsport.

"Bedrock's to Celebrate 10 Years"

On Tuesday April 20th from 5-9 pm, Bedrock's Reedsport will celebrate 10 years in business. The celebration will kick off with "Bedrock's Pizza Eating Contest" that evening. Anyone 18 or older is invited to sign up and at 5:15 five names will be drawn for a five minute Pizza Eating Contest. The winner that consumes the most pizza in 5 minutes will win a free pizza each month for a year. Defending Champion Kevin Swift will not be able to defend his title as he is now an employee of Bedrock's, but will be on hand to crown the new winner.
 
Also, scheduled that evening will be huge discounts offered in inflated balloons, free cake and coffee,  live music by the "Slough Cats",  drawings for prizes generously donated by Bedrock's suppliers, and much more. There will be a wine and cheese tasting offered on the Chowder Side as well as one of a kind dinner specials. Previous owners, Ray and Suzy Wasson who operated "Pizza Ray's and Suzy's" for 25 years at this location will also be in attendance. 
 
Bedrock's is one of the area's top ten employers and operates Bedrock's Pizzeria, Chowder House & Grill, and Bedrock's Catering Services in Reedsport as well as Bedrock's On the Bay in Winchester Bay. Bedrock's is proud to be a huge community partner and appreciates the patronage from its customers as well as the hard work by its staff over the past 10 years.
