What: $1000 Crab Bounty Hunt in Winchester Bay
When: Aug. 1 through Sept. 6, 2009

It's not too late to reel in the winner! So far only 20 tagged crabs have been caught in Winchester Bay, which means there's still 80 of the wily crustaceans proudly wearing the bounty tag - the tag that could mean $1000 to the lucky crabber who pulls him in.

There is no entry fee. Just throw a crab ring into the bay and pull up a pot of gold, or at the very least a terrific lunch!  Crabbing is the best in years right now, and the bounty is a bonus. Bring tagged crabs to Sportsmen's Cannery and Smokehouse in Winchester Bay to have your picture taken and log your tag number.

On Monday, September 6, 2009, at 2 pm the winning number, which has been locked in a secret vault at Umpqua Bank will be revealed. If your crab's tag matches that number, you will be instantly $1000 richer. If no match is made, the money will be distributed in increments of $500, $300 and $200 to other tags.

Winners need not be present to win. For a complete list of contest rules and more information about crabbing visit www.winchesterbay.org

WHAT: Art by the Bay Festival
WHERE: Winchester Bay, Oregon
WHEN: Labor Day Weekend, Sept.5 & 6

Wrap up the summer with the best beach party on the Oregon Coast! Come to Winchester Bay over Labor Day Weekend for our annual ART BY THE BAY event, where you'll find something for everyone in the family to love.

Over 40 booths will boast the best in artists from far and wide, all converging in the seaside community of Winchester Bay to share their wares and their techniques. Each artist  not only has items for sale, but works on pieces during the festival, showing visitors how it is made and what makes it special. See artists create stained glass, weaving, steel, silver jewelry, pottery, ceramics, glassblowing, stepping stones, wood working, gem artistry, authors, wineries, music...

In addition to the booths, there are many activities to enjoy. Music throughout the festival, including a performance by "Soulpie" on Saturday at 2 pm. A doggie fashion show promises to be a hit this year - everyone is invited to "put on the dog" right on the dog, and stroll with your best friend to win prizes for the cutest outfit and the most creative. On Sunday at 2 pm the winning number of the Crab Bounty Hunt will be revealed, so throw crab rings in the water and catch a tagged crab or two before the deadline and you might reel in $1000.  If reeling in a winner in the form of a fish is more your style, enter the S.T.E.P Salmon Derby over the weekend.  There will also be kid's crafts and games, and some surprises!
