Pastor Allen Chaney chaired the June 30 Christmas In July committee meeting at the Church of God on Birch Avenue. All requests for 
assistance with repairs were reviewed. It is likely that some expensive repairs such as roofs may not be carried out due to budget 
restrictions. There are still several Captain slots open and it is hoped that they will be filled by the next meeting on July 7th.

 

Volunteers are still needed and it is not too late to fill out and submit the forms by the July 7 meeting. The work day will begin with 
breakfast at the United Presbyterian Church at 2360 Longwood Drive Reedsport 7:30am July 11th. At noon a lunch will be served for all 
workers at St. John's Catholic Church 12 St. John's Way.

 This class is being offered at the Covenant United Methodist Church, corner of Ranch and Frontage Road.

 

Our Computer Learning Center has been completely updated by our new technician, Greg Schussele.  The first class starts Tuesday, July 7th from 9 to 12 noon.   This class will be offered four times a year, starting the first week of a new quarter.  This class will be the first one so get in on the ground floor.

 

Lawrence Blakeslee and Greg Schussele will be there to instruct you on the following of what you will get..

WHAT:  Reedsport Toastmaster's Club throws Charter Party

The public is invited to help celebrate the chartering of Reedsport's new  Toastmasters International Club. This special event will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 pm at the Reedsport School District Board room at 100 Ranch Road. After an abbreviated club meeting, District Governor Ann Snelling will present the club's charter and  individual charter certificates to its members. Refreshments will be served.

 

In order for a club to be chartered, the club had to assemble 20 members, complete an application for chartering status, and submit it along with a fee. The Reedsport Branch of Umpqua Bank generously donated the application fee.

 

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a friendly, fun and supportive environment. A typical Toastmaster club is made up of approximately 20 or so people who meet once a week for about an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice. The program is self-paced and allows members to build confidence with each speaking assignment. Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program.

 

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Its network of clubs and their learn-by doing program are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader. For more information please call 541-759-2055.

Join the Lower Umpqua Gem and Lapidary Society at our annual gem and mineral show! Admission is free (donations accepted), and includes dealers of gems, minerals, jewelry and related items, with specimen displays, educational videos, raffles, and silent auctions. Kid's activities include a wheel of fortune. Demonstrators will show you faceting, cabochon making, glass bead making, wire wrapping. Food will be available. Come and join the fun, and who knows? Youth VBS at Highlands Baptist Church this year explores Australia on a Rock & Reef Tour. The Rock & Reef Tour provides teens with the opportunity to combine their love of music with Bible study as they learn how to become steady as a rock for Jesus.

Take a thrilling ride across the land down under at Highlands Baptist Church's Boomerang Express Vacation Bible School! As children wind
their way across Australia, they'll discover the vastness of God's love, and they'll learn that no matter where they go or what they do in
life-it all comes back to Jesus.

 

Children's Vacation Bible School is open for all children ages 3 years old to those having completed 6th grade. VBS is from 9 a.m.-noon each
day. Lunch will be provided afterwards. There will be a special Family Night service Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, July 18, Highlands Baptist Church is kicking off Vacation Bible School with a HUGE party that will include free food, Bounce Houses, Games, and VBS Registration. Evangelist Roger Smets, guest speaker to many churches and conferences throughout the United States and Canada, will be speaking on Saturday and Sunday July 11 and 12th at Reedsport Foursquare Church. His ministry focuses on the prophetic ministry of praying the promises of verbatim Bible verses to many individuals. His speaking is practical in nature and vividly related to everyday life bringing hope, healing, forgiveness and deliverance into the lives of countless individuals. Firmly anchored in the word of God, people can be assured they are getting a "good word" when they come to the meetings.

 

Rev. Smets has memorized hundreds of scriptures from the Bible and speaks them freely as he prays with people. As a result, thousands of people have been encouraged, refreshed and set free with a  "Word from the Lord."  This special ministry is scheduled for 6:30 PM July 11th and 12th . The church is located at 2900 Frontage Rd. in Reedsport.
