Free gardening gloves to those who volunteer!

SOLV, as one of the partners of the Renew Reedsport Together project, has provided gardening gloves, trash bags, and special Oregon 150 tote bags for the volunteers who are coming together on Saturday morning, May 16th, to participate in the Renew Reedsport Together.

Although garden gloves have been available by SOLV, the volunteers should bring with them a hand trowel, a shovel, or any other tool they think they may need.  If you are planning to volunteer on Saturday morning, May 16th, please call the Chamber office at 271-3495 or submit your volunteer registration form at the Chamber Office or City Hall.  It is important that we have a count of the number of volunteers that will be gathering to plant the marigolds---so that we can pre-assign locations.  Please call if you would like to volunteer, but are concerned about your ability to do any planting---we have plenty of other tasks that we need assistance with.

Opening Ceremonies will be held at City Hall starting at 9 a.m.   There will be an uplifting message from Keith Tymchuk, our City's Mayor; the planting of the Oregon Celebration rose, coffee and treats, and then the volunteers will be dispatched with flats of marigolds for planting.  Each volunteer or team of volunteers will be given a set number of marigolds and a designated location to plant them.

Financial support, individual volunteers, and groups of volunteers are still being accepted.  Tax deductible donations are being accepted to help support this non-profit project, as well as other community improvement projects now underway—such as the Library Renovation project, Highway 38 beautification projects, Highway 101 beautification projects, and others.

Donation and Volunteer registration forms are available from City Hall and the Chamber's office.  Get your volunteer teams together and register today.  You may contact Deanna Schaefer, City of Reedsport (271-3603) or Robin Dollar, Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce (271-3495) for more information.

Hello everyone - Well can you believe that another year has passed and we are FINALLY moving into the tourist season?  I predict that it will be OH so good this year.  My sources tell me that people are TRAVELING OREGON and that is a very good thing!

So - to get ready for the "crowds" and to also beautify the Old Towne area, the Old Towne Reedsport Merchant Association is again holding its Annual Flower Basket Planting and Fund Raiser.  This is our second year and we will be planting the baskets on Saturday, May 16th from 9 to 5 pm.  The very large and beautiful baskets will hang from the Old Towne light poles and this year we have two additional baskets to hang.  (Sugar Shack is coming onboard to help display baskets.)  We will hang as many baskets as donations allow.  There will also be plants for sale.  Sales from plants will go back into purchase of more plants.  The place is the same as last year, in Old Towne at 532 Fir Ave.  (The recently acquired property of Bill & Mikayle Karcher.) If any of you are interested in coming down and planting with us, we could really use the help and welcome the chance to get to know you a little better.  There is NOTHING like getting your hands dirty together to build relationships!  There will be a Fund Raising letter go out this week too.  So, if you can help in any way, we would really appreciate it.  For more information, you can call me at (541) 271-3044.  Thanks - Kathi Wall-Meyer
