WHAT:  Thank You! From Renew Reedsport Together Committee
Contact: Kathleen Miller 271-2101
 Contact: Kathleen Miller 271-2101
On behalf of the Renew Reedsport Together planning committee, I wish to extend a sincere thank you to all the volunteers who came out on Saturday, May 16th to plant marigolds as a part of Reedsport's Oregon 150th Birthday celebration event.
Renew Reedsport Together was made possible through the efforts of local organizations, businesses, and about 75 volunteers who showed up to help in the planting party, which was financed by community donations.
With the assistance of Chamber Ambassadors, the Mayor Keith Tymchuk started off the day with a message of thanks and the planting of the Oregon Celebration Rose at City Hall.  CDABA provided coffee and treats and then volunteers were dispatched with flats of marigolds to multiple planting sites.  The sunny yellow marigolds are already noticeable in various spots around town, and will provide a riot of color and a unifying look to our area as they grow.
The partners of the Renew Reedsport Together event included: City of Reedsport, Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Rotary Club of Reedsport, CDABA, Douglas County Oregon 150, SOLV, and Ocean Breeze Flowers & Gifts.  Groups participating in the planting included members of the partners group as well as the Reedsport Garden Club, the Reedsport Library Board, Three Rivers Rebekah's, Dunes Family Health Care Clinic, the Chamber Ambassadors, and the many individuals and families who came with their kids to help.  Thanks also go to Umpqua Bank, who donated bottles of water for the many volunteers.  Big thanks also go to the community members whose generous donations contributed to the success of the project.
For anyone who wants to purchase the colorful and attractive commemorative t-shirt from the event, they are available for just $10 at Signs Unlimited.  Those wishing to make a tax deductible donation to support other community improvement projects now underway, such as the Library Renovation Project, the Hanging Flower Baskets in Downtown, and the Triangle Improvement Project may mail checks payable to: CDABA-Renew Reedsport Together, and forward to Kathleen Miller, P0 Box 5, Reedsport, OR 97467.
