53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar – Reedsport, OR

Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA), a local non-profit, is excited to announce all the fun contests and events that will be taking place during its 53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar.  First up is the contest for the Nicest Displayed Space by the Vendors.  This Holiday Bazaar features Art, Crafts, Food, Gifts, and Collectables of the Handcrafted, Homemade, and Homegrown variety.

The Vendor with the best display, according to a panel of judges with marketing and display experience, will receive free vendor table space at the 2015 Bazaar.  The judges will choose a winning Vendor display based on appearance, cleanliness, tidiness, organization, and best use of space and display pieces that enhances sales and general attractiveness.

A contest for those who like paper crafts is next.  The Holiday Card contest is open to everyone.  Vendors and the public are encouraged to participate.  Simply enter a handmade holiday card in one of two standard sizes, made from any material and in any medium (include an envelope if possible).  The winners will be selected by the public.  The top three viewers' choices will be awarded cash prizes of $15, $10, and $5.  Entries will be accepted between 4 pm and 6 pm on Friday, December 5th at the Reedsport Community Building.  After the judging, entries may be donated to benefit a local charity or can be picked up on Saturday, December 6th, between 4 pm and 4:30 pm.

Last but not least, is the Crazy Christmas Sweater contest.  There will be two separate Crazy Christmas Sweater contests--one for the vendors and one for the public.  Embellish and decorate any boring Christmas sweater to make it the craziest, wildest, most unusual and Crazy Christmas sweater in the contest for a chance to win $20.  Participants need to wear their sweaters and check in at the lobby at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 6th.  The winner will be selected by judges based on originality and uniqueness.  The Vendor's Crazy Christmas Sweater contest will be the same as the public, except the public will cast votes on Friday evening between 5 pm and 8 pm to select a winning sweater.

This 53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar will surely have something for everyone and will have a fun and enthusiastic atmosphere.  Contact Theresa Chickering at 541-271-4608 or
tjchickering@yahoo.com, if you are an artist, crafter, photographer, author, or have any other type of handcrafted, homemade, or homegrown product and would like to reserve vendor space.  This is a juried event and space is limited.

And let's not forget, free photos with Santa on Saturday.  There will be raffles and door prizes throughout the event.  The event runs Friday, December 5, 1014 (5-8 pm) and Saturday, December 6, 2014 (10 am – 5 pm) at the Reedsport Community Building, 451 Winchester Avenue, Reedsport, OR  97467.  Free Admission.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION   #2 of 4

Tree of Giving, with the help of the general public, is once again assisting families in our community by providing Christmas gifts for children in need.
Families are now ready for adoption.
Adopting a family means that you, your church, co-workers, business, or other group buys gifts for all the children of one family.
Another option for providing gifts is to take an individual tag off a local tree, buy for that child, and return the unwrapped gift to the location where you picked up the tag.
Tags include the age and sex of the child as well as gift suggestions, clothing sizes, and the date the gifts must be returned.
Individual children's tags will be available at Bank of America, Umpqua Bank, and First Community Credit Union beginning the week of Thanksgiving.
Tree of Giving is also accepting cash donations to be used to buy gifts for those children whose tags aren't taken off the tree.
Donations can be made by choosing a "Cash" tag off the tree or by mailing a check or money order to the Family Resource Center at
5 St. Johns Way, Reedsport.
To adopt a family or get more info please call FRC at 271-9700.
