Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness for Vulnerable Populations Workshop
The Oregon Office of Emergency Management in association with Oregon office on Disability and Health will be holding a series of free workshops on Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness for Vulnerable Populations. These workshops will help those who work with elders, daycare/infant care, people with disabilities, or other vulnerable groups learn more about how to prepare for earthquakes and tsunamis, and other natural disasters.

Who should attend?
Anyone who works in elder care, daycare/infant care, domestic violence, substance abuse, behavioral health, people with access or functional needs, people with disabilities, and/or people that care for that population, non-English speakers or other vulnerable populations…
What will you learn?
You will learn about the natural hazard posed by the Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquakes and tsunamis and its impact on your business or services. Participants will be given preparedness information tailored to vulnerable population support services.
How long will this take?
Most of the workshop will be about 2 hours, but can last longer if there are lots of good questions and discussion.
What will the outcome be?
Participants will know more about the hazard and the start of a game-plan for getting better prepared.
Who will be presenting the workshop?
Dr. Althea Rizzo, Geological Hazards Program Coordinator at the Oregon Office of Emergency Management. She is an experienced presenter with a long history of natural hazards education in Oregon.
Justin E. Ross, Disaster Preparedness Community Outreach and Training Program Coordinator for Oregon Office on Disability and Health. He is an emergency management professional specializing in vulnerable populations disaster planning and preparedness.

Rotary Club of Reedsport Sponsors the Glass Float "Give-Away" during SOLV's Annual Great Oregon Spring Beach Clean-up.
The Rotary Club of Reedsport has once again adopted the beach accessed by Sparrow Park Road (just North of Gardiner) during SOLV's Annual Great Oregon Spring Beach Clean-up on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
To add to the excitement of this event the Rotary Club is donating glass floats. These floats will be given away by raffle to those who volunteer their time during the clean-up. Participants will receive one raffle ticket for each bag of trash turned in during the day. At the end of the clean-up, names will be drawn and each drawn ticket holder will receive a glass float – limit one per person.
Meet us at the Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce parking lot (junction of Highways 101 & 38) at 9:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Carpooling and transportation will be arranged that morning to get everyone to the clean-up site. You can also join the group any time during the morning by simply coming to the beach site at the end of Sparrow Park Road.

Prophetic Minister to be at Foursquare Church
Evangelist Roger Smets, guest speaker to many churches and conferences throughout the United States and Canada, will be speaking at 6:30 Saturday night March 15th at Reedsport Foursquare Church. His ministry focuses on the prophetic ministry of praying the promises of verbatim Bible verses to many individuals. His speaking is practical in nature and vividly related to everyday life bringing hope, healing, forgiveness and deliverance into the lives of countless individuals. Firmly anchored in the word of God, people can be assured they are getting a "good word" when they come to the meetings.
Rev. Smets has memorized hundreds of scriptures from the Bible and speaks them freely as he prays with people. As a result, thousands of people have been encouraged, refreshed and set free with a "Word from the Lord." The evening will start with some worship music and then move into Roger's message especially prepared for what God is saying in 2014. The Foursquare church is located at 2900 Frontage Rd. in Reedsport.

St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge – Plan Your Teams, Plan Your Meals
Have you teams planned for this year's St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge? Now it's time to plan your meals. Here's what this year's "Pubs" have in store for you: Eagles – Cold Cuts; Moose Lodge – corned beef; Tides Inn – Reuben Sandwich; Waterfront – Pizza Slices; and Schooner Inn Small Plates (chicken wings, Caesar salad, meatballs) and the Red Apron – Pork Sliders.
This year's St. Patrick's Day Trivia Challenge will be held on Monday, March 17th starting at 5 p.m. The event will start at the Waterfront Family Dining Room. This is an adult event. Prizes to be awarded this year include a prize for the winning trivia team, the team that raises the most donations for the community project and a prize for the best dressed team. The registration fee per team is $20 for a team of 4, and $5 additional per person (unlimited number). Team registration forms are available at the Mindpower Gallery and from CDABA members. Register your teams before March 17th in order to have a full 30m minutes at each of the "Pubs" to answer your trivia questions.
Again this year, for a mere donation of $1 per clue your team can buy clues to the questions. There will also be five bonus questions per Pub for a total of 25 bonus questions available to purchase. Bonus questions are also a $1 donation per bonus questions.
