FLYING CHICKEN TATTOO FOOD DRIVE A SUCCESS!
The Flying Chicken Tattoo Food Drive hosted by Brian Graham and Rachael Dunn on Sunday, August 11 was a success!
In 8 hours, the event generated $2,061 in monetary donations and grocery receipts totaled $1,721.87 - coming to a grand total of $3,782.87! Proceeds will benefit the South Coast Food Share (SCFS). The 1,850 pounds of non-perishable food collected at the event will be distributed among SCFS's 26 local member agencies.
South Coast Food Share serves as a hub for a network of 26 local member agencies, including 16 food pantries, 8 emergency meal sites, and 5 supplementary food agencies. The South Coast Food Share network serves an average of 9,871 people each month through the monthly distribution of approximately 4,000 emergency food boxes; provides food to emergency meal sites that provide over 13,925 meals per month. In 2012, SCFS distributed nearly 1 million pounds of food. South Coast Food Share also works to address hunger through advocacy and community education efforts.
South Coast Food Share is a program of Oregon Coast Community Action, a non-profit network of programs that help feed, house, warm and educate the communities of the South Coast, and help families thrive.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION # 2 of 3
The Governor's Office, working with Oregon Emergency Management and local Emergency Management Offices, is seeking information to determine the need to seek a Small Business Administration (SBA) economic disaster declaration as a result of the wildfires in southern Oregon. In order to determine if there is a need for this declaration we are requesting potentially affected businesses to fill out a short one page survey (the survey can be found at www.dcso.com/documents/sba_eidl_worksheet_questionnaire.pdf. The survey does not commit a business in any way.
The specific SBA program, if made available, would be the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program. The EIDL program provides low interest loans for "working capital" intended to help the affected businesses get through the period of low revenue.
Completing this form neither commits the small business to later apply for a loan, nor does it commit the SBA to make a loan. There is a separate process and application form for that later (handled directly by the SBA). All the questionnaire does is make the case for economic injury so that the Governor can make a request for the program.
These are form fillable PDFs and can be filled out on line, but must be printed and either sent via mail or scanned and emailed.
We need the questioners returned no later than August 21, 2013.
Surveys can be returned to:
