Cultural Funding Opportunity

The Douglas County Cultural Coalition is accepting grant applications from local art, heritage and humanities organizations or projects.  Grants range from $250 to $750.  Deadline is January 15, 2013.  Applications can be requested by email at info@dcccoalition.org or from our website:  www.dcccoalition.org

The funds will be awarded in February.

The Douglas County Cultural Coalition's purpose is to support cultural participation in all forms throughout the county and is funded through the generous support of the Oregon Cultural Trust (OCT).   The projects have to be involved with heritage, arts and the humanities.  This year the funds received total $13,358 which approximates less than thirteen cents per resident.  You can support the Oregon Cultural Trust by selecting a cultural trust license plate and by donating funds to the trust and receiving an income tax credit.

The group is also seeking members to join the board and assist in the coalition's mission of supporting the arts, humanities and heritage.

If there are questions on the grant opportunity please email jcoyne8@yahoo.com.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION  # 3 of 3

WHAT:            CDABA Annual Meeting
WHO:              Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA)
WHERE:        Coastal Ceramics- 159 So. 20th, Reedsport
WHEN:           January 15, 2013 @ 6 pm
Contact:          Kathleen Miller – 541-271-2101

CDABA Annual Meeting – Tuesday, January 15th at 6:00 pm

Location:        Coastal Ceramics, 159 So. 20th, Reedsport, OR  97467

The purpose of the annual meeting is to elect members to the Board of Directors and a slate of officers from the Board.  Annual reports will also be presented.  The new Board of Directors will meet in open session as soon as the annual meeting is adjourned.  (The outgoing Board will meet at 5:30 pm for year-end business.)

Everyone is encouraged to seek election to the Board, as new leadership, new ideas, and new passion for the arts and the Reedsport community is being sought.  To date no nominations for any position have been received.  Nominations are still open.  Nominations can be made from the floor at the time of the annual meeting.  All the following positions are open for nominations.

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Director of Performing Arts
Director of Confluence Fountain
Other Director Positions as Desired

Plans for the meeting also include reports of events held in 2012 and brainstorming for events in 2013.  More attention will be given to planning events for 2013---and thinking outside the box as to how some events can be conducted differently and what new events CDABA should consider.  One such new project is the idea for the development of new signage for the City of Reedsport as you enter the city in any of its three access points.  If you have ideas or thoughts about city signage---this is the meeting for you.

Also, in order to retain membership in CDABA, each person is required to complete a membership form each January (insurance requirement).  Membership forms will be available on the 15th (you don't have to be in attendance at the Annual Meeting to complete a membership form).  There is no membership fee to be a member, but it does get you on the list for notice all the events and activities of CDABA.

There's lot to celebrate--so plan now to attend and be a part of this group that is attempting to grow access to the arts in our community, while enhancing business alliances to develop community vitality.
