What: Coast Toasties' Member Wins Top Award
Who: Coast Toasties-Reedsport Toastmasters Club
Contact: Anne Machalek      541-902-8008

Jim Perry received his Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award plaque during a recent Toastmaster's meeting in Florence. Surrounded by DTMs from three states, Jim was also honored with a DTM medallion earlier in the month at the District 7 Conference in Portland.

The DTM award represents the highest honor offered by Toastmasters International to members who have completed specific requirements and projects. Jim joins about nine thousand Toastmasters worldwide who have achieved this highest level.

Jim has been instrumental in establishing the Reedsport Coast Toasties Toastmaster Club and serves as a mentor and charter member of the club. Jim is also a member of the Siuslaw Tale Spinner's club. After joining the Florence club, he worked steadily to earn his DTM status in less than five years. Jim exhibited exceptional leadership qualities during his time as an officer and president of the Tale Spinners.

Jim enjoys sharing the Toastmaster experience with others. Last year, he facilitated an 8-week Toastmaster's Youth Leadership course with a group of home schooled students and their parents.  While serving as Area 34 Governor for the past two years, he also provided invaluable assistance to the Newport and Waldport clubs.

Jim invites anyone interested in learning how to develop their communication and leadership skills to visit a Toastmaster meeting. Coast Toasties meetings are held Tuesdays from 7pm until 8pm at the Reedsport School District office on Frontage Road in Reedsport.
