The 5th Annual Lions Duck Race will be on Saturday, August 24th at noon in the East Basin of Salmon Harbor.
Ducks are $5 each and can be purchased from any Lion Club member. BAY EYE CLINIC SUPPORTS SNACK PACK!
Children struggling with hunger on the South Coast will get a little extra help this school year thanks to Bay Eye Clinic Physicians and Surgeons. On August 17th, a generous donation was made by Bay Eye Clinic Physicians and Surgeons to benefit Share Bear Snack Pack Program!
Share Bear Snack Pack program addresses child hunger among disadvantaged youth in the Coos, Curry, and Western Douglas County school systems. Currently, a total of 13,300 Snack Packs are distributed throughout the school year to 700 disadvantaged students at 8 schools within Coos, Curry, and Western Douglas Counties. The Snack Packs also provide literature to assist struggling families with obtaining resources to address financial concerns and to help meet basic needs.
Share Bear Snack Pack program brings awareness to the prevalence of child hunger in our area. The direct impact of the program has resulted in a very strong and positive response from the community including Coos Bay Elks Lodge #1160, Mr. MHS, and The Ford Family Foundation. The Ford Family Foundation was established in 1957 by Kenneth W. and Hallie E. Ford. Its mission is "successful citizens and vital rural communities" in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.
Share Bear Snack Pack is a program of Oregon Coast Community Action, a non-profit network of programs that help feed, house, warm and educate the communities of the South Coast, and help families thrive. This vital program is not a luxury for our community, it is a necessity. We welcome additional monetary or volunteer support.
For more information on Share Bear Snack Pack, or available volunteer opportunities, please call Cintia Henry at (541) 435-7080 x221 or learn more at www.orcca.us. For more information about the comprehensive eye care services provided at Bay Eye Clinic, P.C., located at 3585 Broadway Ave., in North Bend, please call 541.756.2584.
