PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION     #1 of 5
Who: Douglas County Cultural Coalition
What: Awarding of Grants 2013
When: 5:30pm  Tuesday,  March 5th
Where: The Ford Room, Roseburg Library Highway #38
Cost: Free
The Douglas County Cultural Coalition announces the recipients of the its 2013 grant process at 5:30pm on Tuesday, March 5th in the Ford Room at the Roseburg Public Library. The coalition received $13,358 for the year from the Oregon Cultural Trust and has awarded twenty grants ranging from $250 to $1,000. A few of those in Coastal Douglas County receiving funds for their programs, are Oregon Coast Community Action and Riverfront Rhythms.
The funding is to promote the arts, heritage and the humanities within our state, especially via educating the youth and lifelong learning.
The coalition will also present its second annual Cultural Activist award to a person in Douglas County who has been a leading advocate of culture. This year the award will go to Norm Smith who is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Ford Family Foundation. TFFF began its history in 1957 and morphed into its current structure in 1996. The foundation has truly been a supporter and friend to all of Douglas County. Its many leadership cohorts sponsored in the Reedsport area have enabled odd and fruitful combination of interests. It is so true that the entire state of Oregon is better off because of TFFF and because of Norm Smith
