          Hi everyone,
I'm getting ready to start scheduling CDABA's Art Academy classes and $5 Friday events for fall.
Please pass on the on the following information to anyone you know that might be interested in teaching.

Classes can be simple demonstrations of techniques or products, round table discussions concerning a particular craft, art, or other subject, or full blown hands on classes.
Last spring we had classes on quilting, scrapbooking, mixed media, and ceramics.
Any craft, hobby, or art would be welcome as would information on things that artists may need to know to run a successful business, web design, digitals photos for show submissions, packing and mailing art, marketing, insurance, etc.

We've had requests for a beginning cupcake decorating class, drawing, and beginning sewing and garment repair classes.  As you can see any subject would be welcome.

I'd be happy to talk with anyone about any ideas that they have for a class and to help them in any way possible to hold a successful class.
Everyone is welcome to lead a class. If you regularly practice an art, craft or have a skill you would be willing to share CDABA would be happy to consider scheduling you to teach. Teaching is not only very rewarding, it's a great way for local artists to supplement their income.
The amount of participation we had in the spring also shows that there are lots of people in our community interested in taking classes.

There is a short form that needs to be filled out.
The instructor chooses a date and time and sets their fee. CDABA adds $5 to that fee in exchange for advertising, supplying a location, and registering students.

Anyone interested in teaching or with questions is welcome to contact me at
tjchickering@yahoo.com
Thanks so much,
Theresa

Support the South Coast with Jingle Bells and Beer!
Why wait for the temperatures to drop to get back into the holiday spirit? Unbox your Santa hats and dig out your holiday sweaters on Saturday, July 28th, for the 1st Annual Christmas in July Food Drive and Fundraiser at Walt's Pourhouse, a benefit to keep our communities of the South Coast fed this summer.
Walt's Pourhouse and ORCCA have partnered up with Ninkasi Brewing Company to encourage the South Coast to embrace the holiday spirit and help keep their neighbors fed this summer! Located at 1880 N. 7th St in Coos Bay behind the Highway 101 Toyota Dealership, doors will open at 4pm and admission for the event is only $2 or 2 non-perishable food items. Face 4 Radio will be treating ears with acoustic Christmas tunes all day and a live electric set starting at 9pm.
As a part of their Beer is Love donation program, Ninkasi has saved and donated 2 kegs of their popular holiday beer "Sleigh'r" just for the event! "Sleigh'r" will be sold for $2 all night, and all proceeds from the 2 kegs will go towards keeping the South Coast fed.
"Our neighbors on the South Coast still often find themselves in need of assistance during the summer," says Mary Schoen-Clark, CEO of ORCCA. "We thank Walt's and Ninkasi for embracing the holiday spirit this July and invite our community to do the same and support this fantastic event!"
Soak up the rays in the beer garden out back, where Walt's will be running a BBQ with brats and dogs! Anyone who comes dressed as Santa or in an ugly sweater will get a free raffle ticket, with the opportunity to win small prizes all night and a grand prize at the end of the night!
All proceeds from the cover charge, BBQ, and Ninkasi's "Sleigh'r" will go towards helping to distribute food to the South Coast Food Share Network of 30 partner agencies. The South Coast Food Share is a program of the Oregon Coast Community Action, a non-profit network of programs that help feed, house, warm, and educate the communities of the South Coast.
