PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION #3 of 6
WHAT: PhotoVoice 2011
WHERE: Lower Umpqua Hospital District
WHEN: due April 30, 2011
WHO: Lower Umpqua Hospital
Contact: Delaine Humphreys, 271-9700
You are invited to participate in PhotoVoice 2011.
Submit photos showing the supports and the barriers around physical activity, good nutrition & reducing tobacco use in our community.
They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words.let's prove it.
Community conditions--where we live, work, learn, and play--impact our health and the health of our entire community. PhotoVoice 2011 is an opportunity for community members to use photography to document our community's strengths and its challenges related to physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco use.
Guidelines:
(1) Select one or more themes (physical activity, nutrition, reducing tobacco use) to illustrate.
(2) Submit up to three photos that capture the condition statement(s) per theme. You can show both supports and barriers for a theme or just one side of the issue. You may choose one or more themes.
(3) For each photo:
· Provide the name, address, and phone number of the photographer submitting the photo
· Tell us which theme and condition the photo represents
· Provide a simple description of the photo (i.e., what's in the picture)
· Describe how the photo tells a story about the condition statement.
(4) Photos may be submitted either electronically in jpeg format to dhumphreys@luhonline.com or printed and delivered to the Family Resource Center, 5 St. John's Way by mail or in person. If printed, photographs must be no larger than 8.5 x 11. Glossy photo paper to print pictures is available at the Family Resource Center at no cost to participants.
(5) Submissions are due by April 30, 2011. Photos will be displayed and used by Lower Umpqua Hospital for health education and promotion purposes. Photographers will be credited for their submissions.
(6) Photographs must be of things within Lower Umpqua Hospital District boundaries.
Lower Umpqua Hospital is looking for local examples of things that help and get in the way of our efforts be physically active, to make healthy food choices, and keep people tobacco free. For example, a picture of kids playing ball at a local park would be an example of "supports" around physical activity. A photo of a playground that is in disrepair or has unsafe conditions could be an example of a barrier to physical activity.
