PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION  #2 of 2

What:        53rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY BAZAAR – Reedsport, OR
Who:         Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA)
Contact:    Kathleen Miller (541-271-2101)

CDABA Reports 53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar a Success

The 53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar is a wrap!  The very successful event had a total of 54 vendor spaces, with 46 vendors displaying their handcrafted, homemade, and homegrown items.  Some new local vendors included the Fishpatrick's-locally caught and canned Tuna, Alden and Laura Olson of Lakeside-photography, and Jennifer Dolan of Dragonfly Delights.  Local vendors who have a participated a number of times included Dave Courtney, Debbie Williams, and Elaine Zeller.  There were standard holiday items for sale, as well as some unique ones.  The commercial vendor space was also full and contained many gift ideas.  Vendors participated in the hourly door prize drawings by donating items and many vendors also had their own promotional events.

Some of the community's non-profits were present to promote their efforts and to raise funds for their projects.  They included the Ambassadors, Highland Pool, SMART, South Coast Hospice, PEO, CADAD, and STEP.

The Nicest Booth Display contest was won by Debbie Lynn of Whispering Wings Studio.  Honorable mention for the nicest displayed booth goes to the Reedsport Community Charter School students.  Their booth was not eligible to win the contest, but they did an outstanding job with their display and also the volume and types of things they had to share this year.  The students were supervised by Carol Colton, RCCS art teacher, and Guy Marchione, RCCS shop teacher.

The winners of the various contests at the Holiday Bazaar were:  Vendor Crazy Sweater, Barbara Schreckengost (PartyLite booth); Public Crazy Sweater, Saucedo Louie of Reedsport; and Card Contest winners were:  Daelyn McGee, 3rd Grader - 1st place; Theresa Chickering, local Reedsport artist - 2nd  place; and Jay S., Student of RCCS art class - 3rd place.
CDABA wishes to acknowledge all that helped make the event so successful.  Members of the Foursquare Church ran the concessions and provided ample food choices.  The Reedsport Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors once again managed the front welcoming table and sponsored the photos with Santa event.  Thanks go to Bob Cline for playing Santa and to Jim Koenig for assisting the families whose children got their photo taken with Santa.  It also takes many volunteers for an event such as this.  There were those who helped with the set-up and take-down activities; they were:  City employees, Jeff and Misty; RCCS shop and art students; and CDABA volunteers.  There many other CDABA volunteers that helped in a variety of ways, such as decorating the space, managing the various contests, and over all event helpers.  Many THANKS to everyone.

The 2015 dates for the 54th Annual Holiday Bazaar will be December 4th and 5th.

Happy Holidays!
The CDABA Board
