Coordinated Care Organizations? Patient-Centered Primary Care Homes? What is all this health care jargon about? Dr. Janet Patin, medical director of the Dunes Family Health Care Patient-Centered Primary Care Home and chief of staff of Lower Umpqua Hospital will recap the changes in health care since the passage of the Affordable Care Acts (popularly known as Obamacare), and the way we are changing health care in Reedsport to better meet your needs.
Dr. Patin's presentation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the main conference room of Lower Umpqua Hospital, lower level entrance by the cafeteria, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Come join us on Saturday, July 19th from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for a Wine & Agriculture tour hosted by the Umpqua Soil & Water Conservation District. This year we will are visiting locations in the Elkton area including:
Ray & Judy Shepherd Ranch where we will get to visit their beautiful property. Ray and Judy's son, Dan will be our tour guide at the ranch and will show us conservation practices such as spring developments, livestock watering facilities, and a Conservation Reserve Enhance Program Project.
The Big K Guest Ranch will cater us a Fiesta Bar lunch. During lunch Ranch Manager Kathie Larsen will provide us information about the ranch.
After lunch we will visit Rivers Edge Winery for wine tasting.
Admission to the Wine & Agriculture Tour is $25 per person which includes transportation from Reedsport or Elkton and lunch.
The bus will pick up attendees from Reedsport at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot behind the Reedsport Natural Food Store and from Elkton at 10:00 a.m. at the Elkton Community Education Center parking lot.

Lower Umpqua Hospital hosts a book every year with part of the proceeds going to a local non-profit. This year's book fair is a benefit for Christmas in July. New books of all types are available at prices that are 30-70% off retail. Lots of children's books.
