The monthly meeting for the Caregivers for Dementia and Alzheimer's patients would like to express that any caregiver dealing with a long term illness of a loved one is welcome to join them each month on the second Friday. The meetings will provide information for the caregivers to better help them cope and care for their patient. Additionally, through the social time of sharing with other Caregivers the feeling of being isolated is lessened.

The Dunes Art Club is sponsoring their annual rummage sale which is being held in Riverbend Park, #104, Reedsport. Baked goods will be available for purchase along with the many treasures donated by art club members. All proceeds from the rummage and bake sales will be placed in the Dunes Art Club scholarship fund. Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors in the Reedsport area.

The Lower Umpqua Economic Development Forum (the Forum) will begin the process of updating its Strategic Plan on June 9 at the Atzlan Restaurant in Reedsport. Forum members and those interested in economic development in the Coastal Douglas area are encouraged to attend this brainstorming session that will begin at 7am.
The Forum is a non-profit organization focused on economic development and improving the quality of life for residents of the Reedsport, Gardiner and Winchester Bay area.
This year's Plan update will outline goals specifically for the Forum to accomplish over the next five years. The purpose of the previous update made in 2006 was to gather goals in objectives for different agencies and entities in the area. Those goals were then shared with all entities involved in the process.
Breakfast may be purchased at the restaurant during the meeting.

Myrtlewood Gallery to Host First Friday Event
On Friday June 4th, The Myrtlewood Gallery, representing over 80 Northwest Artists and Woodworkers, will be featuring award winning World Class Artist, Vern Hesketh during CDABA's First Friday event. The event will feature Vern Hesketh, with a display of his meticulously carved and painted birds, as well as the heirloom quality Rocking Chairs and Furniture by Reedsport's "Renaissance Man" Stuart Jarmain.
The featured winery will be Henry Estate Winery. Henry Estate Winery is steeped in family tradition. Five generations of the Henry family have farmed the Umpqua Valley, and currently three generations run the estate. The Henrys have made Henry Estate Winery one of the best known Oregon wineries for Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and White Riesling.
The winery is nestled in Southwest Oregon's Umpqua Valley next to the Umpqua River, where the climate and soil type are ideal for growing varietal grapes such as the pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay, white riesling and müller-thurgau. Located near the 45th parallel, the Umpqua Valley climate is similar to the Burgundy region in France.
CDABA is a nonprofit organization and offers these FREE art events for enjoyment by people of all ages.
Future First Friday event locations are: July 2nd (Kathi's Antiques), August 6th (Reedsport Coffeehouse), September 3rd (Mindpower Gallery), October 1st (TBD), November 5th (TBD), December 3rd (Coastal Ceramics/Ocean Breeze-1st Anniversary event) and January 8th (note date changeMindpower Gallery/2nd Annual Photography Contest).
Artist Showcase future dates are June 18th with Sue Bridston and Margaret Noel, and a special event with Bill Karcher in old down town Reedsport; July 16th (Pat Turner), August 20th (Tim Fitzgerald), September 17th (Cheryl LeVesque), October 15th, November 19th, and December 17th all at the Reedsport Natural Food Store (Hwy 101) in Reedsport.

The Reedsport Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce present the 11th Annual, Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Sculpting Championships - Father's Day weekend Thursday, June 17th through Sunday, the 20th featuring the world's best chainsaw artist. Quick carve auctions will be held daily at 5:30 and 12:30 on Sunday and brand new this year on Saturday two Lumberjack Shows will be at 12:30 and 3:30. A Corvette Show 10-3 on Saturday will be held in the Fullhart Insurance parking lot.
